BBC ONE MAYBE LOOKING FOR YOU?

Image
--  A producer for the  TV production company Boundless. They make a wide variety of factual programmes in the UK including Grand Designs for C4, The Apprentice for BBC1 and Michael Portillo’s Railway Journeys for BBC2. They are currently developing a new primetime documentary series for a major broadcaster. The series will see a popular British personality –(who after a long time in one industry is exploring new and exciting career options) - travel the world to meet people who have made extraordinary life-changes; swapping the rat-race to pursue their dream – whatever that may be!
They’re hoping to do some filming in the US and are searching for stories where expats have left their country of origin for a dramatic life change in both work and location, and wanted to get in touch to see if you may know of any surprising stories suitable for our documentary and if possible, could our message be shared on your social media?

BRITS IN LA: FOREVER WITH MANCHESTER

Manchester Forever in Our Hearts…May 28, 2017 9:16 am·
We have so many Brits in LA members from Manchester that my heart fell into my stomach and the tears started rolling when I heard of the fatal and evil attack at the Ariana Grande concert this week. He unfortunately witnessed the whole incident and gave a statement to the police. Again as he told me, my heart sank a little more. I began to think about all of life’s atrocities, …

Meet a Member: Sara MaraffinoMay 28, 2017 9:15 am· Meet Sara Maraffino from New York who moved to LA 11 years ago to pursue her acting career. Tell us about your decision to move to LA: New York has afforded me many wonderful opportunities as an actor, but it is still very much a theatre town. And whilst I originally trained as a theatre actor, I knew that if I wanted to transition into a career in film and television them I would need to make the move to Los Angeles.  And so with that, and the loving support of my husband, we made the cross-country move. What do you miss most from home? I was raised just outside the city, in the Hudson Valley, and I must say that I miss the change of seasons as well as peace of mind and simplicity of life that a rich countryside provides. I suppose it’s very much the same reason I miss England. What was your first impression of LA and has it changed since? I think I was struck by how sprawling a city it is.  There are so many wonderful neighborhoods to e…
