A BRIT OF GLEE

Image
Don't Stop believin'. Seems that Simon Cowell has twisted the arms of Fox executives and pursuaded The cast of Glee to cross the pond and appear on next week's X Factor semi-final!
Nothing like some cross promotion! The ratings for this will prob be through the roof, not that they need it!

TOM HARDY'S BODY IS A MAP

Image
British thesp Tom Hardy (Bronson, Inception) this week showed his ultimate allegiance to home, by getting a tattoo of the union Jack on his chest while shooting in Vancouver. not his first he says his body is a history map, every tattoo is significant. including a few ex's names that have been replaced with rocks - lol. Tom is currently shooting the movie 'This means War' with Reece Witherspoon and he's gearing up for a starring role with his 'Inception' director Christopher Nolan in the next 'Batman' caper. Can't wait for that one.

Who ate all the pies??

Image
Simplethings Sandwich & Pie Shop - We just have to request for steak and kidney and we are set!!! The last time someone told you to shut your piehole, you listened.
Now that Simplethings Sandwich & Pie Shop is opening Monday on West Third Street, you may want to reconsider.
The shop ushers midcentury Americana into contemporary West Hollywood with 1950s-style black and white tiling, butcher-block countertops, and vintage Coca-Cola bins combined with of-the-moment stainless-steel appointments.
On the sandwich front, roasted meats are topped with homemade condiments Meanwhile, executive chef Carrie Cusack of farmers market fave Frankie & Tiny’s Pies bakes everything from classic individual sweet pies to savory pot pies (chicken, steak and lager).
Flavors rotate, although Cusack accepts requests, such as vegan versions and a re-creation of Grandma’s secret recipe.
Now that’s what we call a life of pie.

KEIRA KARENINA!!

Image
In Development: Knightley and Wright pair up again for remake of Anna Karenina.
Keira Knightley could follow in Greta Garbo’s footsteps and play the lead in Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. The screenwriter is Tom Stoppard and the director is Joe Wright, who arguably gets the best from Knightley (see Pride and Prejudice and Atonement). It’s Working Title’s project; they expect the script by Christmas. They will then consider, according to London’s Daily Mail: “several scripts destined for Wright, including one by Abi Morgan based on The Little Mermaid fairy tale, ‘and we’ll decide what looks like the most sensible thing to do.’” Let’s see both!

Nice cock, Love!!

RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK

Image
OFF VINE

I know most people like to do 'the family at home thing' at thanksgiving, but there are definite advantages to eating out. For one no washing up. no overcooking the stuffing,  no pressure to entertain. Well this year I was lucky enough to spend thanksgiving with a few good friends at one of Hollywood's stable  restaurants 'Off Vine.' which is essentially an old home on Leland ave, South of Sunset (Off vine; hence the name)

For $45 their 4 course Thanksgiving menu consisted of a sublime Carrot and ginger soup, A dull walnut, blue cheese salad, but made up by the choices for main course were Turkey of course, this came with stuffing, carrots, Brussels sprouts and broccoli topped with lashings of turkey gravy.  other choices were the Roast beef and a Grilled Salmon for the vegetarians. The Turkey was delicious, the plate was over flowing with goodness, amazing tastes all combined. I was full but luckily had to wait awhile for the Souffles to arrive. We ate t…

HARRY STILL TOPS

Image
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I helped the overall box office explode from last weekend. In fact, it earned more than all films last weekend combined, propelling the box office to a 60% week-over-week increase. Unfortunately, the rest of the box office was on the weak side, and the total of $194 million was 25% lower than the same weekend last year. Ouch. 2010 is still ahead of 2009 at $9.36 billion to $9.14 billion, but that lead isn't safe given the sharp drop-off we just suffered. Hopefully we will get back on the winning track soon. Even single-digit loses will ensure 2010 sets another box office record.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I's opening weekend was exactly in the middle of the range of expectations with $125.02 million. Not only was this the largest weekend opening in the franchise, it was also the second best opening weekend of November and the second best day in November. For full story>>

Irony strikes on Thanksgiving day

Image
BERNARD Matthews — the Norfolk turkey tycoon famed for his "bootiful" catchphrase — has died. The 80 year-old died peacefully at his home yesterday afternoon — just as his empire was gearing up for the Christmas rush.

Group chief exec Noel Bartram said: "I wish to express our great sorrow and extend our thoughts and symphathies to the family."

Bernard is famous for offering the masses cheap turkey meat — and a taste of the Norfolk dialect with his legendary 1980s TV adverts.
He had stepped down as chairman of the company in January and had become less involved in the day-to-day running of the business.
The tycoon started out in 1950 with just 20 turkey eggs but became the biggest turkey farmer in Europe and was honoured by the Queen for his charity work.

Endlessly Duffy - album coming soon!

Image
Pop sensation Duffy says "Ultimately there are thousands of reasons why I do music, but the most important one is to make people feel good -- and that was my sole intention on this record."
The Welsh singer says she wants her new music to make people dance, but admits, "I have two left feet in that sense."
Although she's sold millions of albums, Duffy says true success can best be measured in the long term and in retrospect. Duffy says she feels that she needs to earn respect and have an extensive music catalogue before claiming true success. "It's too early to tell whether I was successful," she humbly says.

Pick up her new album Endlessly, in stores December 7.
